Jimi was introduced to the world of Zumba while spending the winter of 2006/07 in Florida. He came back to Minnesota and began working with several of the amazing instructors at the YMCA.

After completing the group exercise training at the Y, he took the Zumba training in the fall of 2008. Over the past 3 years, he has taught at several branches of the YMCA as well as locations such as the Social Dance Studio in Minneapolis, several corporate events throughout the Twin Cities and most recently at the Jewish Community Center in St Paul. In the summer of 2010, he taught Zumba to over 3000 elementary school students through the summer school program in Anoka County. Always ready to share, he has taught Zumba in Mexico several times, and this past fall in Havana, Cuba!

In addition to Zumba, Jimi is certified to teach Turbo Kick, Drums Alive, Hip Hop Hustle and Latin Hip Hop. He is looking forward to working with Seniors through the Active Older Adults program offered at the YMCA.

Jimi also teaches several styles of dance at the Social Dance Studio, including salsa, cumbia and polka. In fact, he is pretty well known around town as the Polka Dancing Pirate of NE Minneapolis.

“I am very happy to be able to share my energy to so many people through dance and fitness. I am proud to be a part of MetroBeat Fitness and Dance”

Come to the studio on Fridays @ noon for a dose of Zumba, Jimi style!
